Chapter Tree. The beginning.

1948. Elections. At the beginning, the RCP had popularity, the communists frighted against fascism in III Word War. The number of members of the party increase 700%, only in 6 years. Too much people.

From the principle, the RCP government wanted to have independence from Moscow; they refused the take part of the international division of the work planning for USSR; They didn't want to be the agriculture supplying of the rest of communist countries. Moscow started to be a little bit angry.

Of course, like his predecessor, he didn't want to be a vassal of Moscow, and decided to be good relations with China and Israel, and of course, decided to be disagree with the invasion of Czechoslovakia. It works to him very well; occident was happy with his opposite posture against Moscow, and the population showed agree with all these decisions. The legitimacy for the part of the population was a fact.

Occident showed its happiness giving to Romania credits, technology and a kind posture respect human rights...

At the beginning, RCP regime was no very oppressive, but all changed with the travel than Ceausescu made to Korea and China in 1971: he received a great impact in these countries and decided to start his personal “cultural revolution”, with a very strong ideological program and with an irrational inversion in heavy industry, having no market for this economical activity.

1980. Economical crisis. What Ceausescu thought to resolve this problem? Of course, more power in his hands. And too much ideology. The other important decision was to pay the external deuce; we saw that the independence respect the others countries was very important for the RCP.

The economic decisions came with the typical actions: more time of work,   less consume resources and, of course, policy control and the creation of a special policy to protect the domination of Ceausescu: the Securitare, who made to be the population so scared.

The popular opinion in general was now so different and Ceausescu was more and more isolated.

The protest against the suspension of  Lazlo Tokes, the protestant pastor, became in the beginning of the revolution, in Timisoara; the Cathedral and the streets around were converted in the stage  of blooded confronts. The 18th of December a group of young people met  beside the Cathedral and started to sing “ Wake up, romanian”. The security forces shot against they. The song that they were singing, that was forbidden, became to be the national hymn.

The 21th of December, Ceausescu made a meeting in Bucarest in the terrace of Central Committee, to show everybody and every world the support of the population to his government. If you watch the images, you can think that he was totally sure that people was with him... And too, you can see the reaction of Ceausescu in his face when he realized that people tell him go away.

A day after, the 22th, groups of workers, social base of the regime, went to the center of the city to protest against Ceausescu, and finally, the army join them; the end of the dictator was close.

Ceausescu appears again in the Central Committee, but in this second moment, people didn't want to spend more time: they attack the building and Ceausescu left it flying; by helicopter.  Ceausescu and Elena went captured  in Targoviste, and on 25th of December, the couple was judged and executed.

And this history has been finnish.
